How we handle your information.
This is a short, plain-language privacy policy. We've tried to keep it readable instead of dressing it up in legal language nobody understands.
What this site does
deferredtaxsavings.com is an educational resource about IRC Section 453, a provision in the U.S. tax code that allows sellers of highly appreciated assets to defer capital gains taxes through an installment-sale structure. The site exists to help people understand whether the strategy might apply to their situation, and to connect interested visitors with a qualified tax professional for a free, no-obligation consultation.
We are not a law firm, accounting firm, or registered investment advisor. We do not provide legal, tax, or investment advice. The calculator and example scenarios on this site are illustrations for educational purposes only.
What we collect
When you fill out the inquiry form on this site, we collect:
- Your name
- Your email address
- Your phone number
- The U.S. state where your sale would take place
- The type of asset you are considering selling
- Your estimated timeline to sale
- Your estimated sale price range
- Your estimated capital gain range
- Any optional notes you choose to provide
The calculator on this site runs entirely in your browser. The numbers you enter into the calculator are not transmitted to us, our servers, or any third party. They exist only on your device while the page is open, and disappear when you close it.
What we do with it
When you submit the form, your information is forwarded directly to a partner trustee — a U.S.-based firm specializing in IRC Section 453 installment-sale transactions — for review. A representative of the trustee will reach out to you, typically within one business day, to discuss whether the strategy is a potential fit for your situation.
We do not run a database of leads. We do not sell, rent, or trade your information. We do not use your information for marketing, retargeting, or to build advertising audiences.
Who sees it
Three parties may have access to information you submit:
The partner trustee firm
The form submission is sent to a shared inbox monitored by a U.S.-based trustee firm and members of their team, which typically includes case managers and a tax attorney experienced with IRC Section 453 installment-sale structures. They review submissions to determine whether your situation may qualify and to prepare an illustration for your consultation.
The email delivery service
Form submissions are delivered to the trustee firm's inbox through standard email infrastructure. Like any email transmission, your submission briefly transits through the delivery provider's systems. We do not authorize the provider to use submission contents for any purpose other than delivery.
The website hosting provider
This site is hosted on Amazon Web Services (S3 and CloudFront). AWS may automatically log standard server information when pages are loaded — the kind of information all web servers log, like IP addresses and browser type. We do not actively read or analyze these logs. They are retained per AWS's standard policies.
What we don't do
- We do not sell your information to anyone, for any purpose.
- We do not share your information with marketing or advertising networks.
- We do not use cookies for advertising or retargeting.
- We do not run analytics that profile individual visitors.
- We do not transfer your information outside the United States.
- We do not contact you with marketing emails or newsletters. The only follow-up you should receive is from the trustee firm responding to your specific inquiry.
How long it's kept
The partner trustee firm retains submission emails in their inbox per their own records-retention practices, which typically follow industry standards for prospect inquiries. You can request that they delete your submission at any time by contacting us at the email below — we will forward your request to them within one business day.
Your rights
Depending on the state you live in, you may have rights regarding the personal information you submit, including the right to:
- Know what information has been collected about you
- Request a copy of that information
- Request that it be deleted
- Request that it be corrected if inaccurate
- Opt out of any sale or sharing of your information (we don't sell or share, but the right exists regardless)
To exercise any of these rights, email us at the address below. We will respond within 30 days. There is no cost to you, and we will not retaliate or treat you differently for exercising any of these rights.
Children
This site is intended for adults considering the sale of significant appreciated assets. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has submitted information through this site, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the form works or where submissions go, we will update this policy and revise the effective date at the top. We will not retroactively apply changes to information collected before the update.
How to reach us
Questions about this policy, requests to access or delete your information, or anything else privacy-related can be sent to:
